Overall Rating:Very good
The first thing that hits you when you walk in is that it is not as small as it looks from the outside. Set on a couple of floors the interior design is quite trendy with a mirrored bar area and glass panelling separating the first floor from the ground floor. The design really adds to the atmosphere creating yet another trendy yet reasonablly priced restaurant in Angel. I found it to be a pleasant, quite lively but at the same time not to awkward to eat your food near the bar (as we did).
Food Rating:Good
The menu was a little minimal but for the type of food (oriental) it was average I suppose. The wine list was a comprehensive as you would expect for a restaurant that also has a bar. The presentation of the food was excellent, with raditional ceramic bowls and throwaway chopsticks giving that old skool oriental touch. My noodles in hoi sin sauce with chicken pieces was good, if not all that generous and a bit simple.
Service Rating:Exceptional
I found the service to be of a high standard. Politeness was the order of the day. We were actually served by 3 different waiters who couldnt do enough to help us. When we did not like the wine a substitute was immeditaly provided. Also when my friend couldnt finish all his meal, the manager didnt charge us for it, bargain!
Ambience Rating:Very good
I would definately recommend this restaurant for anyone that enjoys oriental cusiene and appreciates glass panneled, neon lighted, mirror bar type atmopsheres. Dont get me wrong, this is not the type of place to go just for a drink, its certainly an eaters place, rather than a drinkers. Infact noone was at the bar when we were there. The seating arrangement is intimate due to the narrow nature of the layout but not too intimate so that you can hear what the people at the next table are saying. Simple fun oriental cuisene in nice surroundings.
