Overall Rating:Disappointing
A truly strange experience which I will not be looking to repeat any time soon.
Food Rating:Mediocre
Food wasn't terrible but it certainly did not warrant the inflated prices on the menu.
Service Rating:Disappointing
The service was utterly bizzarre. Firstly the head waiter approached and asked us if we were ready to order, we said we were but before we could start ordering he literally ran from our table to start fidgeting with the air conditioning. Eventually after about 5 mins he came back and we started placing our order - two of our party decided to have the vegitarian meal for two. His response was to say "Please understand one of the main courses will take too long to cook." We asked how long he said 45 mins to an hour. We said that was ok as the meal included starters so if we placed the order now we were happy to wait 45mins to an hour for the main course. His response was to adopt an air of indignation and say "I know my business and that dish is going to take too long to prepare" a little taken aback we agreed to have the meal with an alternative main course. Later having worked our way through some of the average curry we asked a waiter if we could have the left overs to take away. Again he responded by saying "I am sorry that will take a long time" in the surly tone of voice that all the staff adoped throughout the meal which clearly indicated he was loath to go to the effort of doing it at all. Again we asked how long it would take - he said 5-10 minutes. This time we insisted that he do it and were unsurprised when the packed up curry arrived about a minute later. It was all very very strange.
Ambience Rating:Disappointing
The restaurant was surprisingly crowded so I understand their need for the service to be swift - but it was extremely disconcerting to have the waiters sprinting past us (that is literally running as fast as they could).

Service Rating:Good
Because this restaurant gets so busy the staff don't have much time. To be honest with you i would forget the staff and just dig in.
Ambience Rating:Very good
I like the decoration it is small but it feels quite spacious and has a friendly relaxed atmosphere

This is my favourite restaurant in islington and the place that my family go to on special occasions. We have been going for many years now and have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and lovely food.

The Indian food here is very good indeed! I have never had a bad experience with the food and have had most things on the menu.

There is a very nice, cool atmosphere in the parveen. I especially like to sit in the raised area near the back of the restaurant.

Overall Rating:Disappointing
The only thing that Parveen excels at is being the single worst restaurant in history. The food was a disgrace: so late at first I suspected it was a takeaway from the Indian sub-continent, cold, surely microwaved, arriving in dribs and drabs. The staff? How did they react? With an insouciant disregard which I suspect spoke volumes - this surely was anything but unnusual. From now on I'm going to cross to the east side of upper street, keeping a strict 50metre no go zone around this chaotic palaver masquerading as a restaurant. (Still, nice beer)
