I went to Maghreb on 4th Jan 2004 in a party of five. It was the most enjoyable meal I’ve had in London for a while. All of us agreed that the food was excellent. The bill came in at about £20 per head – very reasonable as some of us had had starters, desserts, and coffees. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a combination of quality and value on Upper Street, and hope to visit again soon.
Food Rating:Exceptional
The food was superb. The starters we had included the Moroccan soup, vegetarian mixed mezze, and pan-fried sardines. All were excellent. I had the spicy fish tagine as a main course, which was also superb. Others had the lamb tagine, which was delicious – the lamb being beautifully tender. All of us agreed that the food was excellent. The dishes were delicately spiced, with no overwhelming flavours, meat and fish were perfectly tender, and portions were almost over-generous.
Service Rating:Good
The service was friendly and attentive.
Ambience Rating:Good
The surroundings were unusual though pleasant, with a multitude of red silk lanterns. This was nicer than it sounds, and did not bathe everything in a reddish glow as I’d feared. There was North African music in the background, but at an unobtrusive level.

Went to this restaurant on Friday 27th November 2009 and had a lovely time. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and all four of us agreed that it was very good.
Food Rating:Very good
The food was very tasty and well presented. There was plenty of it and our veggie friend was also very pleased. Everything about the food was enjoyable.

The restaurant was relaxing and we were able to chat freely without having to raise our voices. A welcoming and very pleasant experience.
